Essential Tools For Animal Energy Healing
Every animal healer finds their favorite tools with time. Good equipment boosts your connection and allows you to tune in to each animal’s needs. Here are a few of my favorite go-to items that support energy work and help animals feel their best.

Crystals for Balancing Animal Energy
Crystals are more than just pretty rocks. Scientifically, they each vibrate at a different frequency, working to boost, clear, soothe, or transform the energy coming into it.
Most animals really love having crystals in their space, and show relaxation signs as they spend more time nearby.
Many healers love amethyst for calming nervous animals and soothing anxiety. Rose quartz shines when you want to encourage trust and an open heart. Citrine brings in gentle energy for pets that need a confidence boost. The possibilities are endless!
When picking crystals, start simple:
- Look for stones that feel good in your hand. I often use palm stones and wands with horses, because they are large enough to keep a hold of while working around big animals.
- Notice if you are drawn to one over another. Don’t overthink it! If you keep reaching for one in particular, or are drawn to the same color or kind over and over again, that’s a good sign that you’re meant to work with it.
- Smooth, tumbled stones are a great place to start. There’s always a risk of having fragile stones around animals, so be sure they are big enough to not be easily swallowed, and keep them in a safe place.
Generally speaking, the color of the stone relates to the chakras of the body. There’s quite a bit more complexity to it than that, of course! A great place to start is to get 7 crystals, one for each main chakra. Then during sessions, as you find areas that have stuck energy, you can add in the crystal for that body area’s chakra,
Placement matters. Try resting stones near your pet during rest, tucking them under a blanket during healing, or placing them around the area where you work.
I use an amethyst wand directly on the horse’s body, and trace the meridians with it. Watching the animal for responses tells you what’s working and what needs to be moved.

Pendulums and How They Work
A pendulum is a simple weight on a chain, usually made of crystal or metal. Animal energy healers use them to read the flow of energy and spot stuck or blocked areas. You gently hold the string and let the pendulum swing above the animal or over chakra points.
Choosing a pendulum is personal. Go with one that feels balanced and swings freely in your hand. If possible, let your pet sniff it and notice if they seem curious or relaxed.
A few quick tips for smooth use:
- Sit quietly with your pendulum before sessions and ask it to show you “yes” and “no” swings.
- Hold the pendulum over energy centers, keeping your hand relaxed.
- If it swings in a circle or back and forth, take note. That can signal where energy is stuck or flowing well.
Keep sessions short, pay attention to the animal’s comfort, and always stop if they seem restless.

Essential Oils
Scent is powerful for animals. Essential oils tap into a pet’s sense of smell and help create a peaceful space for healing. Lavender, for example, calms nerves, while frankincense can ground both you and your animal buddy. Some companies make specific blends, like doTerra’s Balance.
Plant oils don’t just smell nice! They can trigger relaxation, slow breathing, and help restless pets settle. Stick to oils that are safe for animals and always dilute them well. Never apply oils directly to a pet’s skin or fur. Instead, try:
- Applying the oil to your own hands or arms.
- Diffusing a drop or two into the air.
- Spritzing a pillow or blanket lightly.
- Letting the animal choose by offering two scented cloths to sniff.
Always check for any bad reactions, and skip oils altogether if your animal is very sensitive.

Tuning Forks for Vibration Healing
Tuning forks might seem like tools for music class, but they work wonders for animal energy fields. When you strike a tuning fork, it gives off a gentle vibration that helps reset the body’s energy. This can relax tense muscles and clear out grumpy moods.
It’s easy to get started:
- Pick a tuning fork in a mid-range frequency (like 528 Hz for calming energy).
- Strike it softly, then hold it close to the animal’s body.
- Move it slowly around sore spots or over chakra centers.
Most animals stay curious and calm, especially if you let them see and sniff the fork first. Watch for signs of relaxation, such as soft sighs, deeper breaths, or even sleeping. Small animals or nervous pets may need shorter sessions.
Tuning forks give you a gentle, hands-off way to support pets that are sensitive to touch or sound. Always use soft tones and quit if your animal seems startled or unhappy.
Modern Tech for Animal Healing
Tech tools can take animal energy work to a new level. With the right digital helpers, you can track your animal’s well-being, ease their nerves, and keep tabs on stress levels in real time. Not every session needs tech, not every animal will want it, so as always, try things out and see how each animal responds.
Music and Sound for a Relaxing Atmosphere
Music can turn a healing space into a safe zone for animals. The right sounds help them settle, breathe slower, and trust you more. You don’t need fancy speakers or blaring tracks, just a bit of care in choosing what you play and how.
Some good sound options include:
- Schumann Resonance tracks on an app like InsightTimer. The one above is my favorite one, especially during solar flares, storm seasons, or full moons.
- Soft classical music like Debussy or Mozart, which often soothes anxious pets.
- Nature soundtracks with rain, ocean waves, forest birds, or gentle streams. These mimic the outdoors and help animals relax if they’re jumpy.
- Sound machines with white noise, soft wind, or heartbeat effects, which create a consistent background and can mask harsh noises from busy homes.
Keep volume low. Animals hear better than we do, so background music for you can be way too loud for them. Play a sample before each session and watch how your pet reacts. Some animals prefer near silence. Others might nuzzle closer to the sound.
A quick setup tip: for small animals, place speakers across the room, not pointed at the animal. Let the sound fill the space. Adjust as needed if your animal seems alert or restless.
I have a small Bluetooth speaker that hangs on my belt if I am working outside, or sometimes I’ll play a track through my phone. It doesn’t need to be fancy!
PEMF and Resonance Frequency Therapy
One of the best tech tools I’ve used is Resona Health’s Vibe. It is a pocket-sized PEMF machine, which is a pulsed electromagnetic field generator. The idea behind it is that we are all energetic beings, and sometimes we need some specific resonance support.
Full-sized PEMF coil machines are bulky and expensive, although certainly have their place in an animal’s healthcare protocol at times. The learning curve for safe operation and understanding all the ways the body can respond is steep, and damage can absolutely be done in the wrong hands.
The Resona Health Vibe is small, portable, and perfectly powered for safe, effective support for the body’s electromagnetic field. I use it on myself daily, and have also seen amazing results on horses!
With a number of pre-programmed sessions available, it’s easy to pick a frequency therapy that will be suitable, and run it while doing an energy session.
Setting Up the Healing Space
Every animal energy healing session starts with the right environment. The setup of your space shapes how animals feel and respond. A peaceful, welcoming spot lets you connect better and helps animals relax, making each session more effective.
The little details matter, from the energy in the room to the familiar items you place around.

Consider the Energy of the Space
Animals pick up on everything around them. The space you choose for healing sessions has a strong impact on how animals settle in and respond.
- Routine and Timing: Think about your animal’s routine. Avoid scheduling right before meals or during busy household hours. Hunger and family chaos can make them restless in ways that distract from the session.
- Surroundings: Pick a spot away from loud noises, harsh lights, or high-traffic areas. Doors closing, other pets, kitchen clatter, tractors, or outdoor sounds might disrupt their focus or make them anxious.
- The Animal’s Mood: Notice the animal’s current state. Are they energetic, sleepy, jumpy, or calm? Matching the energy of your session to their mood helps you both feel more at ease.
- Location: If possible, create a designated healing space over time. Familiarity helps animals feel safe. Patterns help them know what to expect. I’ve found many horses prefer to not receive energy healing or bodywork in the same area where they are prepared to ride. Look for safe areas where they can be at peace.
- Your Energy: Bring calm into the space before you start. Take a few deep breaths or meditate for a minute. Animals feel your tension or calmness, so come in relaxed and focused. Grab your crystals!
Paying attention to these details smooths out each session and invites the animal’s trust.
Comfort Items for Small Animals
Small touches can help animals feel at home and build a sense of safety during energy healing.
Some go-to comfort items include:
- Soft mats or cushions: These give animals a cozy place to rest. Choose washable materials for easy cleanup.
- Blankets: Familiar scents help pets relax. If possible, use the animal’s own blanket from home or add one that’s soft and calming.
- Favorite toys: A well-loved toy offers comfort, especially for anxious or young animals.
- Calming sprays: Lightly misting the room or fabric with pet-safe sprays made from lavender or chamomile sets a soothing mood.
- Gentle background scents: Place a sachet of dried calming herbs nearby, or use an essential oil diffuser with oils known to be pet-friendly and safe.
- Low lighting: Dim lights or natural sunlight support relaxation. Avoid overhead glare and harsh bulbs when you can.
- Water bowl: Always have fresh water nearby so animals can drink as needed.
Add or swap out items based on each animal’s personality. Some pets need a quiet den-like space, while others enjoy being able to look around. Watch their body language for clues—if they curl up, sniff, or sprawl out, you’re on the right track.
Keeping the environment gentle and comfortable helps animals drop their guard and lets the healing happen more naturally. The little details build trust every time.

Personal Tools for the Healer
Animal energy healing takes a lot out of you, both physically and emotionally. Keeping your own energy clean and your mind steady should be a top priority. When you take care of yourself, your sessions get smoother, and your animal clients feel more at ease.
Self-Grounding and Centering Tools
Staying present is the backbone of any healing session. Animals notice your mood and energy in an instant. Having a few quick and easy tools for grounding and centering can make a dramatic difference.
Practical options to help you reset before and during sessions:
- Grounding stones: Carry a small stone like hematite, black tourmaline, or smoky quartz in your pocket. These stones have a calm, gentle weight that can soak up scattered energy and bring you back to yourself. Hold one for thirty seconds and picture roots growing from your feet into the floor.
- Essential oils: A dab of grounding essential oil like vetiver, cedarwood, or frankincense on your wrists or a cotton pad sharpens your focus. Always choose oils you enjoy, and steer clear of overwhelming scents. Just a whiff before a session can signal your mind that it’s time to help.
- Short meditations: Even a minute of simple breathing pays off. If you’re driving to do a session somewhere, skip the music and instead send your intentions forward to the animals you’re heading to help. Have a sense of gratitude for being able to work with them. You can also listen to nature sounds and do some deep breathing. Whatever works to recenter your energy!
- Quick check-in routines: Stand up and press your bare feet into the earth, floor, or a mat. Wiggle your toes. Imagine heavy energy leaving your body with each exhale.
- Hand sanitizers and cleansing sprays: Clean hands clear more than germs. Spritzing your hands or space with a gentle, natural sanitizer or mist resets your mind and body, marking a “fresh start” between animal clients. (This is also important for biosecurity, and should be part of your routine if you work on multiple animals in a day.)
Using grounding tools as session openers and closers helps you come back to yourself, leaving heavy energy behind.

Tracking Progress with Journals and Logs
It’s easy to forget the small changes that add up over time, both in yourself and the animals you help. Writing things down catches patterns you’d miss otherwise and keeps your own practice fresh.
A few easy ways to track your journey:
- Paper journals: Old-school always works. Keep a notebook just for session notes. Jot down the date, animal’s mood, tools used, and any shifts felt. This ritual grounds you and makes each session feel more meaningful.
- Digital logs: There are simple apps or phone notes where you can quickly log an animal’s response to different crystals, oils, or tools. Some healers use voice memos if writing feels slow. One benefit to this is being able to easily search for past session info!
- Session checklists: Short lists that include tools used, animal’s starting and ending state, and your personal mood work well. These can live on sticky notes or in spreadsheet apps.
- Insight lists: Sometimes healing is subtle. Note the small wins: a nervous dog taking a deep breath, a shy cat coming closer, a horse letting you touch sensitive areas, or even your own sense of calm growing stronger.
Keeping a record helps you spot what’s working and what needs adjusting. It’s also a good way to see your own growth as a healer. When you’re tired or doubting yourself, flipping through your logs can remind you of all the progress – both yours and the animal’s.
By caring for your own energy and keeping a record of each step, you bring steady, reliable healing to every animal you meet.
